AIR QUALITY MONITORING re: Thomas Fire

For the safety and health of our student-athletes, athletic department staff are closely monitoring the air quality as a result from the Thomas Fire. Air quality is monitored hourly by staff, using the data and recommendations on www.airnow.gov. Coaches are advised throughout the day on the air quality and the athletic trainer makes the final determination of what practice limitations/cancellations will be implemented.

Congratulations to our December Athletes of the Month!

Abe Glossner, Freshman, JV Boys Soccer

Head Coach Moises Jimenez: Abe is a great asset to our team because he constantly seeks out information on what he can do better and how he can help his team improve. He demonstrates great leadership qualities and supports all of his teammates consistently. Abe has a strong work ethic and strives to be a student of the game. Against Atascadero last week, Abe scored two goals out of the team’s three.

Dennis Isbell, Senior, Varsity Boys’ Basketball

Head Coach Andrew Cherry: He is averaging over 15 rebounds a game. He is leading the team in free-throw percentage. More importantly he has taken on a leadership role and is leading by example in terms of working hard, staying focused, and maintaining composure during the games.

Sydney D’Acquisto, Senior, Varsity Girls’ Soccer

Head Coach Mario Perez: Sydney D'Acquisto has been a key member of the Girls’ Varsity Soccer team for the past 4 years. She is a talented player, but more so, she is a true team player. She has an outstanding work ethic, always giving 100% effort during conditioning, practices and games. Sydney is a great example of what a THS student-athlete should be. She is a good leader, works hard and she will be hard to replace next year. Most importantly, Sydney is a great person and is well liked and respected by her teammates, teachers and coaches.

Haley Hurdle, Senior, Varsity Girls’ Basketball

Head Coach Shawn Koehler: Haley has been really giving us the whole package this season.  She is a team captain and working very hard in practice. She is very well spoken and represents us and the school very well.

2017-18 ATHLETIC PACKETS NOW AVAILABLE

Are you looking for 2017-18 athletic packets?

Athletic packets are available in the THS athletic office and main hallway, just outside the attendance office.

When is my athlete's athletic packet due?

Athetic packets are due to the athletic director before your athlete participates in any tryouts workouts, conditioning, practices, and games.

Who accepts them?

The athletic director, Lindsay Franklin, and ASB/Athletics Clerk, Sheila DeLisle, are the ONLY people who accept these packets. They must be submitted in person (CANNOT be left in the office or under the door). Coaches and other staff are instructed NOT to accept packets.

INTERESTED IN BECOMING A VOLUNTEER DRIVER?

THANK YOU for considering to become a volunteer driver for TUSD. Fingerprinting can take anywhere from 1-3 weeks to clear, so don't wait! Here are the necessary steps:

1) Bring a copy of your driver's license, insurance, and H-6 (driving record printed at the DMV) to the ATHLETIC DIRECTOR. The printed driving record you can obtain online cannot be accepted.

2) You will be asked to sign a DMV Pull Notice consent form, enabling TUSD to pull your driving record in the future, saving you future trips to the DMV!  You will also sign the Van Driver Contract and submit to the athletic director.

3) Upon approval (no more than 2 points, no DUIs or reckless driving, at least 21 years old, etc.), you will be asked to go to district office to complete TB test and obtain DOJ Fingerprinting voucher. If you have done fingerprints with the Office of Education in the past, they still may be accessible, so don't forget to ask!

4) Once your volunteer packet has been completed and submitted to the district office, and fingerprints/TB test clear through the Dept. of Justice, the advisor of your group will be notified of your clearance.

Once again, thank you for becoming a volunteer driver. Additional questions can be directed to lfranklin@templetonusd.org

ATHLETIC ATTENDANCE POLICY

ATHLETES: Please review the athletic attendance policy--you must attend 2 periods on practice days and you MUST attend all periods on the day of a contest until you are released. Doctor or dentist visits with a signed note by the doctor are the ONLY valid excuses for missing class on game day. Personal reasons or illness (even with a parent note) are NOT excuses and you will be ineligible for your next contest. If you have questions, please see Ms. Campana.
