Mock Trial in Semi- Finals

The San Luis Obispo County Mock Trial competition is under way.  Templeton High School and Templeton Middle School both have teams competing.  Templeton High School has the won the county competition many times and gone on to compete at the state level.   Participating on the mock trial team takes a tremendous amount of dedication and is a wonderful experience for the students involved.

The Templeton High School Team is off to a great start with 4 wins and 0 losses!  The next competition will be the semi-finals against North County Christian at the San Luis Obispo County Courthouse on Tuesday the 9th at 6:15 p.m.

Today:
  • Pick up and return your Renaissance Rewards Card application at the front office.  Completed applications are due by February 11th. 
 
  • Did you lose your camera in our gym recently? Please come to the main office to describe and claim.
 
  • Cuesta College will be hosting “Free Cash for College Night” on Tuesday, February 9th. CalSOAP sponsors the event where seniors and their parents will have an opportunity to complete the FAFSA. All colleges and universities require a FAFSA to award scholarships, financial aid and student loans. Don’t miss this great opportunity! Pick up a flyer in the Career Center.
 
New:
  • CampHapitok is looking for responsible, dedicated students (18 years of age) to serve as volunteer counselors this summer. Camp Hapitok is a four-week summer program for children with speech, language, and hearing disorders. Become the best friend, teacher and counselor to a child with special needs. This is an excellent opportunity for students interested in careers in education. They especially need male volunteers. See Mrs. English for more information.
 
  • There is a junior class meeting Thursday at lunch in Ms. Wilson’s room, B-6. We will be discussing Prom.
 
  • Friday Night Live Talent Show signups have started. If you are interested, please go to Mrs. Hansen’s room in D-8 to enter.
 
  • A representative from WyoTech will be on campus Thursday, February 11th. WyoTech is a technical school providing training and certification in automotive, diesel, motorcycle, marine, collision and refinishing, plumbing and electrician career fields. Their career training programs are short-term, and most students complete their programs in less than 16 months. If you are interested, sign up in the Career Center.
 
 
Ongoing:
  • The Million Can Hunger Drive has started. Bring in your cans and win prizes!
  • Seniors: The scholarship list has been updated. There are scholarships available for just about any student. A few hours of your time could get you thousands of dollars! Pick up the list in the Career Center today.
  • Freshman! There is a class meeting on Thursday, February 11th in room C2. Be sure to be there at lunch.
  • All students interested in playing on the golf team need to pick up the Golf Team Info sheet outside the Athletic Director’s Office. There have been some changes since the team meeting that you need to be aware of. Golf starts February 16th.
  • Students: The college tour is full, but you are welcome to put your name on a waiting list.
  • Yearbooks are now $70. There are still some available, so be sure to buy yours before they are gone.
  • CSF membership applications are available in the counseling office. All grade levels can apply if you have qualifying grades. Seniors trying for Lifetime Membership must complete this application. The $5 membership fee can be paid to the ASB Cashier. See Mrs. English if you have any questions.

AP Test Information

EXAM FEES:  UPDATED- The fee for each exam is $86.  THS gives an $8 discount which lowers the cost to $78 for each additional exam per student.  Fees for 2 exams = $164, 3 exams = $242, 4 exams = $320, and 5 exams = $398.  All exam fees for the 2009-2010 school year are due March 26.  Please plan ahead for payment.  Payments are being accepted online or

FEE REDUCTIONS/WAIVERS:  The College Board offers fee reductions and waivers for families/students who qualify.  Fee waivers and reductions need to be approved before the end of January.  Fee reductions of $22 per exam are available from the College Board for students with financial need. In addition, schools forgo their $8 rebate for each fee-reduced exam, making the final fee for these students $56 per exam.  In addition, virtually all states offer exam subsidies to cover all or part of the cost for eligible students. Talk to your AP Coordinator, Ms. Meece, to learn more about state and federal subsidies and other support that may be available to you.
